My condolences to Miss Hayes family, what a wonderful person and what a terrible loss! I can only imagine how many kids she helped at CPCS who were never aware of her actions behind the scenes... Thank you Miss Hayes.

Sister Katheryn..I can hear you now saying “oh you”..working with you was a pleasure even when the coffee was so strong that I thought it would grow hair. You’d laugh and I would drink it anyway. So glad we kept in touch and were able to have some luncheons after your retirement, even when you bought even food for 10 farmers! I feel blessed to have known you and to be able to call you my friend. RIP Kathy, I love you and you will be sadly missed ❤️

On behalf of my siblings, brothers Dan, Robert, Matt and Andrew, and my sister, Mary-jo, I'd like to extend our condolences on Katheryn's passing. We moved next door to her and her mom, Anna, in the early 70's and they both were wonderful neighbors. They always looked to give us kids an apple or an orange and allowed us to climb the apple tree across the road. We also spent many winters sledding on the Hayes' property. You couldn't have asked for better neighbors....always smiling and kind.
Just the other day while visiting my mother, I looked up at her house and felt an emptiness knowing she wasn't there. She always "kept an eye" on our mother, especially since our dad's passing and wouldn't hesitate to call one of us if she was worried about her.
She will be missed by the McKinley clan.
Katheryn,
May the roads rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Rest in peace....
Karen (McKinley) O'Gorman

Katch you have been the kindest soul I will ever know in my life time. You have taught me kindness, respect, and generosity. Many of us have followed you in the Nursing profession , your compassion for your profession has been immeasurable, you have always known the need for great nurses, there are so many sick and needy people in the world. You were an angel to many many in need. One time I was in trouble in Nursing school because well we were fooling around, I had to talk my way out of the mischief so I mention that you were my role model that nursing isn’t always about being serious one needs a little laughter to heal. Thankfully the instructors knew you and I passed with flying colors. Fly with the angels Katch I know God has a very special place for you in heaven, it will be beautiful. Your work is done now you are in peace. I will miss your beautiful soul. Love Kate

Katheryn was definitely an Angel among us. She had the biggest heart and cared about everyone and all creatures great and small. I think that this saying truly summarizes her life and those who mourn her loss. She left more than enough love to go around.
"When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind." (author unknown)
Well done good and faithful servant. Rest in Peace in your heavenly reward.

There are few people on this Earth that are as selfless, giving, or caring as my Aunt Katch was over her entire life. Whether it was her close family or someone she grew up down the road from, she would do anything for those in need and do it with a smile on her face. She exemplified what it meant to be a good person, a good aunt, a good sister, and a good friend. While she will no longer be with us anymore, her warm spirit and unconditional kindness can serve as an example to all of us who knew her. While it might seem to be an impossible task to be as generous and loving as Katch was, it certainly is something everyone should strive to do. She will be forever missed by us all.

Our family lost one of the most incredible people this week. For those that knew her, and it was many, knew just how pure and beautiful her heart was.
Aunt Katheryn would literally give you the coat off her back. I’m confident in saying that when God met her at the pearly gates he embraced her with a warm hug and thanked her for spreading love and kindness for all 85 years of her life.
Growing up Aunt Katch was a intricate part of my life. As the sister to my Grandpa Hayes, she was my Great Aunt, but acted more like another grandma to my brothers and I.
As I sip my morning coffee I can’t help but reflect on the numerous wonderful memories I shared with her throughout my life. I laugh as I think about the funny scowl she would have when she didn’t agree with something or the loud kisses she would give you on your cheek.
She had a heart of gold and a soul gifted by the Angels. Her life mission was to help those that were less fortunate than her. She gave everything she had, literally everything, to those that needed it more.
My only hope is that my family realizes just how lucky we were to have someone like Aunt Katch in our lives. She reminded us that those who spread kindness and love are the true heroes in this world.
Her final days proved to us just how many lives she touched. The outpouring love and support from people far and wide showed us that Aunt Katch was more than just a member of our family, but a true Saint sent from God to embrace his children and remind them they are loved.
I will forever miss her kind soul, her beautiful smile, her willingness to express her emotions, the care she showed for others and her desire to do right by everyone.
Saying goodbye to someone that’s been such an intricate part of my families lives will be hard. However, I pray that we rejoice in her legacy and continue to spread the love and kindness that she showed to all.
Katheryn lived a beautiful life, filled with many wonderful journeys. It is my hope that when she arrived in heaven she was met by her brothers and sisters to thank her for looking after their families in their absence and inviting her in to the house of God to rest for eternity.
We are sad to see you go, but grateful you are at peace now and in the hands of God. Love you, forever and always. You were one of the most incredible people I will ever know.
Rest now, you deserve it.

As a lot of us from South Colton, Colton and Pierrepont Miss Hayes was the school nurse all the while we were in school. She was such a kind lady. I enjoyed talking with her frequently regarding town business and she always started by asking how everyone was. I certainly will miss her. My most sincere condolences to her family.

Ms Hayes was our Mother Theresa. Such a kind hearted person. Never left you feeling worse. Us kids would run to the nurses office whenever we had a stomach ache or just wanted to get out of class. She would check us over, then have us lay down in the side room on the cot and when we felt better or got tired of laying there, we were all better and went back to class. She sure will be missed but I'll be lookin for her again some day, at that grand reunion in the sky !

Deepest sympathy to all her family. I don't think that anyone who met her didn't walk away with a smile and a lighter heart. Such a kind wonderful angel. To know her was to love her. No matter when you graduated if she saw you she always remembered your name and always had a wonderful little tidbit about you she would remember from school. Even my children's names she remembered and always asked how they were doing. God Bless you and continue to watch over us.

Katheryn Hayes has left a legacy, not only to generations of Coltonians, but to so many of the surrounding areas. I was thrilled to see that she had received the recognition she so richly deserved. Katheryn was led by her heart in service to so many. I can't tell you how often she took sick kids home, made sure children were clothed. Kathern, thank you for sharing that generous heart for all of these years. We are all better for it.

Thank you, Miss Hayes, for your life of service. You turned hard days around for so many. You lived with immeasurable compassion, kindness in words and actions, seemingly tireless in your goal to make a moment, an experience, a day, a life better in any way possible - and you always found a way.
That sterile nurse's office with its hard cots, institutional decor and smell of Lysol was warm, welcoming and safe while you were in it.
Wherever I encountered you as a child and adult I was greeted with that beautiful smile and felt better when we parted.
The only times I recall hearing any hardness in Miss Hayes's voice was in defense of a child, advocating for another and once in anger at a lack of care being provided to someone in need.
Intelligent, witty, driven, generous and respected - what a difference you made in your corner of the world! The reach of your goodness travels far and wide with every person who had the opportunity to know you.
I am forever grateful to be one of those people.
