Dear Lorene,
I was so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope your memories of your long and strong marriage will offer you some comfort.
Please extend my condolences to your children and grandchildren. It's been a pleasure to see Phil Jr. and his family occasionally over the years, through Chad. You and Phil must have shared so much joy and pride in all of them. I'm so glad you live fairly close to them.
Please know I'm thinking of you with sympathy and holding you in my heart.
Fondly,
Mary Lee Crosby

I first met Phil in the early 60's when I "worked" for both his Dad Archie and his uncle Beanie doing odd jobs at both stores in Norwood. I got to know both families and a quite a few years later when I returned from my stint in the Navy I stopped to see both. Phil happened to be there at the store and although are paths did not cross often, we remained friends for all the years. Comparing stories of the Royce Stores and Archie and Beanie. GREAT families both.....
I will very much miss seeing him at the Casey reunion!!
My most heartfelt sympathies to your families as you have lost your rock
Tim Casey.

My sincere condolences to Phil's family. I always enjoyed my talks with Phil about our common interests in hunting, the great outdoors and his property in Maine. A smile was always on his face during our discussions. Rick Mace.

I am so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I had the honor of working for him for a few years in the late 80's at Barrett Paving in Norwood, and considered him a Mentor. I learned many things from him that I have used throughout my working career, he was a good man. I still for some reason remember his usual Lunch order, "Tuna sandwich wih a thick slice of raw onion".
RIP Phil

I have a fond memory of Mr. Royce . He traveled from his home to my shop in Canton . He asked me to stop outside and look at his tires and see if they looked ok for winter . When I went outside to look the cutest little tree frog the size of a quarter had hitched a ride with him and was sitting on his tire . He chuckled and had that big smile he always had whenever I saw him .
Hope this makes you smile as much as it does me . God Bless

Big Phil: Big Phil meant a lot to me which I know he understood without us talking about it very much.
He was my grandchildren's other grandpa my son in law's father and my daughter's father in law. I slept
well at night knowing that he was standing watch over all of them, holding them in his heart with limitless love and kindness.
I knew that he was there for the ones I love with every breath he drew.
Paul Bunyan and Big Phil had a lot in common. Well perhaps with the exception that Big Phil would have never made Babe the Blue Ox work any harder than carrying children on his back. Big Phil saved horses that needed homes, feed them well and kept them healthy and happy. The only requirement was to carry babies, and then children and then adolescent grandkids around and teach them about their connections to the earth and other creatures.
I know you are all really hurting. I wish I could be there to help in some small way. I miss him too.
