Dear Lisa, I'm not sure you would remember me as it has been many years since we've seen each other. My parents are Vern and Bonnie Gonyeau. They were good friends with your parents back in the day! They have told me many great stories of times they had with your parents. Last year after Thanksgiving I brought Bonnie to see Mary at Maplewood. They had a good visit. We were very sad to hear of Mary's passing a few weeks ago. I wanted to bring them to calling hours but weather didn't permit. I now live in Tully,N.Y. but travel to Gouverneur often. Vern turned 90 last year and Bonnie is 83! I'm Jodi and I hope you remember me. I have memories of your Dad and what a sense of humor he had. Your Mom was a lovely person also. Hold all your memories close and let them comfort you. Sincerely, Jodi Hatch

Farewell Aunt Mary........Farewell Uncle Wally As I head back to your open arms I hope you will be there waiting And end this painful debating My torture and agonizing fear To stand all the things I know When the reason will soon be clear I am still miles away But I will make it back today I will wipe away your tear As the distance now grows near I know now just what to say As I'm no longer miles away I can hardly wait to hold you my dear. Be joyful now, for they are finally together forever............ This is an excerpt from a poem called "Miles Away". It was written by a beautiful patient I had the pleasure of taking care of last year. It is one of the many poems written by Leonard J. Sperling.

I remember Mary very well from my early years at SLU, when she was the switchboard operator there (not mentioned in the obit). I worked in Vilas Hall, first in the Admissions Office, later in the Business Office Nd elsewhere on campus. A more warm and friendly person I cannot imagine. (Her husband Wally also worked there , maybe in Office Services? ) I wish her family well...
