ST. REGIS FALLS—Funeral services for 66 year old Robert L. “Rev” Billings, a resident of St. Regis Falls and formerly of Norfolk, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Knapps Station Community Church with Rev. Harry Dow presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 5-8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Pastor Bob passed away early Thursday morning at the University of Vermont Medical Center with his wife and three children by his side. Rev. Billings is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda, St. Regis Falls; his two sons, Jonathan and Amy Billings, Ludington, Michigan; Rob and Melanie Ann Billings, Webster, NY; his daughter, Melanie and Randy Streu, Appleton, Wisconsin; his ten grandchildren, Naomi, Robby, Eleah, Jeffrey, Bryce, Trey, Lindy, Madeline, Emmy and Joely. Rev is also survived by his brothers Howard and Evelyn Billings, Phoenix, Arizona; Steven Billings, Washington DC and his sisters Irene Churukian, Rochester, NY; Eleanor and Al Stoddard, Elmira, NY and Jeanette and Roger Houghtalen, Sayre, PA. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Wayne and Don Billings and a sister Jane Smith. Born in Sayre, PA on November 28, 1948 to the late Howard S. Sr. and Velma K. Billings, Reverend Billings married Linda L. Harl on June 21, 1970. Rev. Billings was the pastor at the Norwood Free Methodist Church from 1973-1997 and from 2001- present and also the pastor at the St. Regis Falls Free Methodist Church from 1982- present. He was very active in sports, officiating softball, soccer and basketball since the 1970’s. In 2014, Rev. Billings received the Golden Whistle Award for officiating basketball. Rev. Billings also coached Boys JV Soccer, Girls JV Softball and Modified Boys Basketball in the Norwood-Norfolk School District for many years. Rev. Billings was loved and respected by so many people he met throughout the years and he always enjoyed visiting with friends and family, spending time with his grandchildren, singing, especially old hymns and the National Anthem and he truly enjoyed sports. He was a beloved substitute teacher at NNCS and other schools throughout St Lawrence and Franklin counties for many years. Memorial Donations in his memory can be made to the Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT; the Free Methodist Church of Norwood or St. Regis Falls or to any cancer society.
