Dear Billings family,
We shall keep you in prayer as you journey through this time of loss. Bob's sister, Irene, kept us informed of Bob's cancer and celebrated with him of his deep faith and positive outlook as he recovered and went back to his joy in ministry and officiating sports. His journey touched our lives for his faith and courage and his positive hope in Christ. Our church community kept him in prayer and will pray for your family. Zelda and Irene's close friendship began at the U of R. We and our daughters have been close to Irene's family for years.

What a wonderful man of God! Always looked forward to seeing him at camp or when we were singing at the church! Allow God to comfort you at this time....He will comfort you!

To The Billings Family:
I have known Rev as an official in basketball and softball for over 35 years. First as a player and now as a coach. I just had a wonderful chat with him in February during one of our basketball games. He is one of the few officials who takes the time to talk to the kids and explain things to them. I have had many great chats just running in to him at games. He was very well liked by all and will be missed by all. My thoughts are with your family.

Family problems kept me from attending either the calling hours or service for Bob. He was a fine colleague dedicated to the spiritual well-being of the people of Norwood. The length of his service to the churches is testimony to how deeply he was loved and admired. Our churches and my family are holding you all in prayer. Walter Smith, Norwood United Ministry (UCC/Methodist)

I talked to God this morning, and asked Him to give you peace and hope and strength in your time of loss and sadness.Life brings tears, smiles, and memories. The tears dry, the smile fades, but the memories live on forever.
The Rev refereed my last basketball game of the season this year. He looked fantastic! He was hugging and joking throwing in little quirky comments to ease the players before the game. He wanted them to play (regardless the score) and have FUN!
I have known the Rev for years. When I was in high school at Lisbon playing sports he would ref our games with a smile. As I grew older and became a coach the Rev was an inspiration to me. (Kinda like a mentor). He always had a kind word of optimism and a warmth about him. No matter how bad or good the game was he was never judgmental but more encouraging than anything. I have so many fond memories that I am lost for words. I give all of you my sincerest deepest condolences at this time of loss. God is good...ALL THE TIME!

I knew Bob when I was serving in the Susquehanna Conference - Oneida FMC and Cortland FMC - and really appreciated his humor. In fact, I preached one August in Norwood, when Bob was just leaving that church, before he went back to serving as their pastor.
You all are in my prayers at your loss. Hang onto your memories of Bob and always hold him in your heart. Our faith is really crucial at times like this.

What a funny and amazing man! I first met Bob when he was a young pastor who was great fun for the youth at the Wildwood campground. He affectionately became know as Bill Bobbings. Bob's sense of humor will be missed. I remember My Mother got locked in the bathroom at Norwood church, he told her not to worry he would send kool-aid under the door. What a great memory that still makes us laugh! What a kind and compassionate man. I will continue to pray for you.

Dear Linda and family:
My deepest condolences. Like the Billings family, we "outsiders" were so fortunate to have had Pastor Bob in our lives. A great husband, father and grandfather that he was....but also a very special friend to all who he "touch" in life. He came into this world as a chosen Godly gift and served his Creator well. We who knew, can say what a wonderful gift God gave us when He brought Pastor Bob into our lives. The Billings family will miss him dearly, as will we all. I look forward to that promised "reunion in Heaven" with Pastor Bob, my beloved Doris and all who have gone before us. What a celebration we will have and I can hear the Rev singing my favorite hymns now. As he always said...God is Good, all the time. How true, how true. God Bless You all.

I am so thankful to my friend Kathy Harl for telling me about her brother-in-low Bob and asking me to pray for him. I was privileged to add him to my cancer prayer cards and pray for him every morning and each time up at night. So saddened to get the message that he was gone but thankful to know that he is with Jesus and not suffering. I now lift the names of my friend Kathy, Linda and their kids and all family each morning and each time up at night asking the Lord to meet all their needs --peace, comfort, hope, encouragement and what ever else they need for the day.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Reverend Bobs passing. I met him in my early teens back in 1977 and was so glad to have gotten to know and spend time with him. My deepest sympathy to his wife and children. He will never be forgotten. God bless you in your time of sorrow.

We will all miss the smile that Rev had for each person he met. I will miss his encouragement that he had for everyone whether he was officiating, coaching or just observing a sporting event. The Rev provided guidance for many new sport officials and was a great example of how to be a good official. We will miss him on the field, the court and the sidelines. I am sure he will be looking every time we go on the field.
