Obituary of Iona C. Ames

NORWOOD—Funeral services for 94 year old Iona C. Ames, 5 Ridge Street, Norwood, will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Walter Smith presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. There will be no calling hours. Mrs. Ames passed away early Saturday morning at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Iona is survived by her son, Gary, Norwood and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son Gregory, her brothers Clyde, Lyle, Vernon and her sisters Muriel Gibson, Thelma Brown and Winona White. Born in Alburgh, VT on July 15, 1920 to the late William and Blanche Gale Carpenter, she married Albert E. Ames on August 12, 1950. Albert passed away on June 27, 2007. She was a homemaker and also worked for N.Y. Telephone as a telephone operator for several years.
