NORWOOD-- Funeral services for 79 year old Donald F. “Pete” LePage, 6 Harrison Street, Norwood, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Norwood with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. Burial will be held following the service in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mr. LePage passed away while participating in a duathlon in Ogdensburg on Wednesday evening. Pete is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline “Polly”; a daughter, Christine and James Napper, Spencerport, NY; his three sons, Thomas and Kari LePage, Fairhaven, NJ; Peter and Jessica LePage, Penfield, NY; Michael and Kimberly LePage, Norwood; his eight grandchildren, Evan, Madeline, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Zane, Daniel, Brandon and Hailey. Pete is also survived by his brothers, Gerald LePage, Massena, Gary LePage, Florida and sisters Fay Scully, Linda and Jerry Laffin and Mardie LePage, all of Massena. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Paul and Eugene and a sister Ruth Sharlow. Born in Massena on January 19, 1935 to the late Percy and Marjorie Pitts LePage, Pete graduated from high school and served two years in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the service, Pete played semi-pro football for 11 years for the Massena Warriors and worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway. He married Pauline “Polly” Mellon on July 25, 1964. Pete was employed as a cutter and grinder for ALCOA in Massena, retiring in 1997 after 34 years of service. Pete was instrumental in getting the track at the NNCS started, as well as the Norwood Park and the Norwood Beach as they are today. He served as the Youth Commissioner for 20 plus years for Norwood. Pete loved having coffee with the guys, but had a passion for biking. His true enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Pete’s memory can be made to the Potsdam Humane Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
