So sorry to hear of your Mom's illness and passing. Losing a Mom is heartbreaking and devastating. She was a wonderful woman who was so kind, generous, loving and thoughtful; sending birthday cards and letters over the years; something we will never forget. May all of the memories of her help you through your sadness. God Bless! Love Lori, Joanna & Kaitlyn xo

To all the family, your mom was a great woman, so involved in the community and such a great neighbor to Betty and Ralph. She was there when Betty had her heart attack and passed. It is so hard to loose your loved ones. While John has lost both his mom and dad (as you have now) and me my mom we do find joy in memories and pictures. They gave us life and now we have children and grandchildren thanks to them. While it is so hard now as time passes you will be remembering the good times and not the past few days. Take care and may Barb have a speedy trip to heaven to join so many she has loved, taken care of each other and shared good times with your mom. Thoughts and prayers are with you all through this difficult time. John and Debbie Hammond.

Walt and I were very surprised and saddened by the news of Barb's passing. We had known her since we were college students when she worked in the Health Office there. We also had been neighbors for something around 40 years.
Barb was a caring and warm person who was full of energy and young at heart. We often called her about health symptoms when our children were babies, and she was always helpful.
As her neighbors, we often saw her with her loving and close-knit family, and I even had the pleasure of teaching several of them. There was no doubt that each of her children held their mom in high regard, and they did all they could to be sure she enjoyed a happy retirement.
At one time Cynde LaFountain and I used to do morning walks with Barb, and Cynde and I had to book it to keep up with Barb. She loved to walk, and her pace was challenging. I remember our walks fondly.
Apparently Barb also loved to dance because she participated in Zumba at CPCS, and there was a video that I saw of her dancing with a group of students in a flash mob dance event. What a wonderful spirit she had!
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that one of our other neighbors, Connie Bates, held Barb in high esteem. While Connie is unable to attend the wake or funeral, I know that she would have wanted to convey her deepest sympathy to the family.
Please accept our deepest sympathy over your loss. We hope the happy memories of Barb in your life will prevail and sustain you in your grief. Sincerely, Walt and Carol Kissam

To all the family......Sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom, Grandma, And great grandma. Your Mom and Dad were some of our best customers when we ran the gas station on the hill. They were in almost every day and always pleasant and smileing. When I remember Barb, I immediately think of seeing her danceing with the students on the school website.(not long ago either) She was smileing and haveing a good time and that is how I want to remember her and you all should do the same......that is what she would want.

My thoughts and prayers with all the Wheaton Family. I will surely miss her smiling face dropping in the door of my shop. Whether it be bringing a friend, a new customer, a relative or just herself to pick out that gift for someone very special to her,she was always a joy. I will never forget the look on her face the day I told her she was famous. I had seen the flashmob video at Colton School and there she was with her Zumba friends.I am sure she will be missed by all! Such a wonderful lady!

Barbara was a strong woman with a big heart. We had the good fortune to live next door to her in Norfolk. When my mother passed away she stepped in to care for the three children in my family as if we were her own. That was almost 50 years ago. Her kindness will always be remembered. We adored her. Our deepest sympathy to all of Barb's family and friends.

To Barbara's family and friends -
I am so sorry for your loss. Barbara and I went through school together, and graduated together in 195l. We lived only four doors away from each other, so we often walked to and from school together.
When I think of Barb, I have to think of music and dancing. She certainly loved to dance!
Cherish your memories of her - she was a great lady and a great friend. She always beamed when she spoke of her family.
May her legacy live on in all of you.
