Obituary of Katherine C. Sabad

NORFOLK—Funeral services for 87 year old Katherine C. Sabad of the United Helpers Maplewood Campus, Canton, and formerly of Norfolk, will be held Wednesday at 10 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. Burial will be held in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mrs. Sabad passed away Saturday afternoon at Maplewood. Katherine is survived by her son, Frank Sabad and Kristi Meints, LaQuinta, CA and her daughter, Dianne and David LaBare, Deland, FL. Katherine has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Katherine is also survived by her two sisters, Ida Claffey, Massena and Laura and Kenneth LaVigne, Norfolk and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Dominic Zappia, Frank Zappia and Antonio Zappia Jr. Born in Norfolk on April 25, 1924 to the late Antonio and Ida Hewitt Zappia, she married Frank Sabad on November 25, 1942. He passed away on August 19, 2001. Katherine worked at Norwood-Norfolk Central School for 31 years as a secretary, retiring in 1984. Katherine was a member of the Church of the Visitation, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Norfolk American Legion Auxiliary, the Jolly Agers, AARP, the Higley Flow Association and the St. Lawrence County Secretaries Association.
