Obituary of Valery M. "Val" Haggett

NORWOOD – Funeral services for Valery M. Haggett, 86, a resident of 16 Ridge Street, Norwood, will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 5 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Walter Smith and Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. A spring burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. Mrs. Haggett passed away early Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025 at her home with her family at her side. Val is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert R. Haggett, Norwood; a daughter, Tracey Haggett-Sloan and her husband William, Norwood; her beloved four grandchildren, Cameron and Jena Sloan, Preston Haggett, Lindsay Sloan, Spencer and Colleen Haggett; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Harper, Chandler, Mia, Molly, Cordelia and Cambria; two brothers, William Dailey, Waddington and Alan (Diane) Dailey, Lisbon and sister, Diane Massia, Ogdensburg and sister-in-law Phyllis (Phillip) Dailey, Ogdensburg. Val was predeceased by her parents, a son Mark in 1997 and a brother Phillip in 2024. Born in Potsdam, NY on January 22, 1938 to the late Mark and Jean Henderson Dailey, Val graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School, Class of 1956. She married Robert R. Haggett on October 25, 1958. Val was a Telephone Operator, working for Bell and AT&T and was a devoted homemaker as well. In her spare time, Valery enjoyed her camp at Higley, gardening, reading, playing cards (especially pinochle) and loved to travel, especially to Maine.
