NORWOOD – Funeral services for Lyndon A. "Gibby" Gibson, 75, a resident of 1 Whitney Street, Norwood, will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Jane Peacock presiding. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. Mr. Gibson passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Gibby is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carolyn, Norwood; his daughter, Jenny Gibson, Amherst; as well as his in-law's, Patricia Gibson, Carol Gibson, Susan and Dave Pouliot, Jeff and Linda Ball and Jonathan and Claudia Ball as well as many nieces and nephews. Gibby was pre-deceased by his parents and his siblings Dwight, Wayne and Brian Gibson.
Born in Potsdam, NY on October 20, 1949 to the late Lloyd and Muriel Carpenter Gibson, Gibby graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School. He continued his education at SUNY Buffalo in Waste Water Management and returned home to work for the Village of Norwood for many years as a Waste Water Technician. Gibby married Carolyn Ball on January 26, 1980. In his spare time, Gibby enjoyed sports, playing baseball, bowling, golfing and downhill skiing. He had a lifetime interest in airplanes and loved playing his full set of drums in the basement and in the last several years, due to difficulty with mobility, playing his set of practice pad drums on the first floor. He was a genuine, kind hearted man, always willing to help others. He loved animals and enjoyed watching the birds. Most recently, Gibby enjoyed going to the animal shelter to help and visit with them. Gibby also enjoyed and has fond memories from skating with Jenny in the father/daughter skate. Memorial donations in Gibby's memory can be made to the Norwood Volunteer Fire Department or to the Potsdam Animal Shelter and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
