NORWOOD— Graveside services for Joseph J. Cutler, 85, a resident of Morgan Street, Norwood, will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow the services. The exact date will be announced at a later time. Mr. Cutler passed away peacefully on Friday morning, November 15, 2024, at the North Country Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing after a brief stay. Joe married his beloved wife, Mary Lou (Matson) Cutler, on September 5, 1959. They shared 65 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of Norwood; his two sons, James (Beth) Cutler of Norwood and Charles "Chuck" Cutler and his companion Sharon Bishop of Norwood; his daughter, Beth Cutler of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his sister, Ann (Richard) Zeron of Charleston, SC, as well as many stepbrothers and stepsisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, L.D. Joseph and Sophia Iona (Perry) Cutler; his daughter, Michelle Marcantonio; his brother, Charles Cutler; and his granddaughter, Sara Cutler. Born in Potsdam, NY, on November 6, 1939, Joe graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School with the Class of 1958. He and Mary Lou worked for and later owned The Drew Insurance Agency in Norwood from 1963 until his retirement in 1997. Joe spent the early years of his retirement in Green Valley, Arizona, returning to Norwood in 2006. A dedicated community member, Joe served as a past president of the Norwood Kiwanis Club and played a vital role in establishing the Norwood-Norfolk Key Club. In his free time, Joe had a passion for music, playing the drums, piano, and much to the delight of his children, the accordion around campfires at Higley Flow. He was also an accomplished artist who enjoyed oil painting. Joe loved playing golf with friends and meeting new people during his travels.
