Mathew J. Despaw Obituary

Mathew J. Despaw, 43, of Colorado, formerly of Angier North Carolina and Norfolk NY, passed away August 14, 2024 due to a motorcycle accident in Brighton Colorado.


Mathew was born January 24, 1981 to Terry and Brenda LaDue Despaw. He graduated from Norwood Norfolk Central School in 2000, and entered the Marine Corp. He married Kristie Germano and was blessed with two children.


Mathew was employed by Lockheed Martin as a HVAC Specialist. He was an adventurer, hopping on his Harley and exploring the sites of Colorado.


Mathew is survived by his wife Kristie, son Tristan, daughter Braylee. He was also survived by his sister Lori Despaw, nieces and nephews Lauren (Scott) Smalling, Blake Orosz, Emma Davis, and Daniel Davis, and his mother Brenda LaDue Purves. He is also survived by his extended family, mother-in-law Barb Germano, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Britnie Cota and Matt (Amber) Germano, along with their children.


Mathew was predeceased by his father Terry Despaw, sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Kip Orosz, and grandparents Howard and Margaret Donie Despaw, Alexander LaDue and Mildred Davis Lavine.


A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in NY.
