POTSDAM – Services for Kevin R. Caskinett, 63 a resident of 176 Butternut Ridge Road, Potsdam, will be held privately for the family. Kevin passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with family at his side. Kevin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ramona, Potsdam; his two sons, Zachary and Jessica Caskinett, Potsdam and Luke and Daniele Caskinett, Brasher Falls; his beloved three grandchildren, Gage, Wade and Drake as well as many brothers, sisters and extended family members and friends.
Born on September 20, 1960 to the late Edmond and Katherine Deshane Caskinett, Kevin graduated from Madrid-Waddington Central School. He married Ramona M. Hammond on December 5, 1981. Kevin was a self-employed carpenter and was also a member of the Local 2 Bricklayers Union. The statement "The man, The myth, The legend" is fitting for Kevin, He started his childhood out working on the family farms around the Madrid-Waddington area including his childhood homestead. His heart lead the way in all his endeavors and the love he had for family was second to none. His passion for horses started young as he won several first and Championship ribbons and trophies throughout his life and fast cars, oh yah, he drove the wheels off em! Just to replace them and do it again. A beef cake man with huge, powerful hands, several would compare his forearms to Popeye and went down still undefeated in arm wrestling, something his oldest son tried to take from him several times with no avail. He loved baseball/softball and was a weapon at the plate, winning several homerun derby's along with State Titles, but I believe watching his grandsons play ball was his favorite part about the sport as he believed in them with his whole heart. A teacher to all mason/carpenters, a Jack of all trades and master of some. He enjoyed hunting and tracking big bucks and was a crack shot proving it over and over throughout the years not letting his family and friends forget it either as he's a true Legend in the big woods. His greatest love was his family and there's alot of it! But his heart was big enough to share. He stood proud by his wife Ramona as they instilled morals and guided many youth to a better path in life and called them all his with pride. Such a unconditional love he shared for so many and he made sure they knew it with the smile that lit the world up around him. He leaves a hole in those he left behind but made sure to leave enough memories behind to fill it! He passed on more life than the one he took, so remember him in the wind and listen close as he whispers, I love you! Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
