The passing of James, a benevolent soul I had the fortune to meet during our middle school years, is truly saddening. Our shared memories from snowmobiling in Inlet New York to kayaking whenever time permitted, symbolises the remarkable journey we undertook together after his family's move from Alaska to Syracuse. His kindness and generosity will forever inspire those fortunate to have known him.

To James' Family,
James was a beacon of kindness, humor, and selflessness. He always made the students feel welcomed and cared for at the school. He never failed to put a smile on the kids' faces with his notorious fist bumps. James's thoughtfulness reveals the true nature of his beautiful spirit. May he rest in peace — forever missed but never forgotten.
With deepest sympathy,
Jon, Caryn, Malia, and Kiana Hogle

"It takes a village to raise a child." James was an important part of our village. He had a caring soul and never expected anything in return. He always greeted the children with a fist bump, shared a lifesaver, and even volunteered his own snacks at away sports games! I will always treasure the pictures he shared of my 3 sons playing sports throughout the years! I will forever be grateful to James for being part of the swim program which provided my sons with such a great opportunity while making many summer memories! I will miss getting his text that it would be a good day for pizza at the beach! A recent memory touched our hearts when he shared he bought a Subaru like our sons!
We are very sorry for your loss! May your memories bring you some comfort during this time.

Our camp neighborhood will never be the same without our quiet, unassuming James fiddling around his place, getting "the work" done so he could go be free on his jet-ski and cruise the waterway he loved for so long.
My grandparents were friends of his parents - quietly respectful with a wave as we drove slowly past their driveway, across the pine needle rutted road on the way to our place two doors down. Those were the days of privacy and neighbors keeping to their sides of the fence (well, in this case Pine trees) as it were. But as James was caring for his Mom more, we saw more of him at camp, and finally cocktail hours and campfires saw his baseball cap and flannel shirt more frequently. And it was our lives he enhanced with his quirky sense of humor and tales of HIS ideas on matters of the world, both large and small. He always added value and mirth to any conversation.
We'll miss you, James! Know for sure your neighbors will raise a pint in your honor this weekend and remember you fondly.
Cheers, mate~

I am so sorry for your loss. James was a friend to all that knew him. A fist bump and a mint, a silly face and a smile, and the photos… I am forever grateful for the photos he took of my kids over the years, right up to just a few weeks ago during basketball season. He had a talent that we are so thankful he shared with us. He will surely be missed.

To James' family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. James had a kind and gentle soul. In the halls of CPCS, he would hold out his fist for a "bump" and, no matter their age, every student who passed would bump his fist. James was generous with his photos and so clearly loved what he did. He was a great conversationalist. He will be dearly missed.
Sincerely,
Lianne & Steve Knight
