COLTON - Joseph L. Eickhoff, age 61, a resident of Weaverville, NC and formerly of South Colton, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Mission Health Hospital, Asheville, NC. There will be no calling hours or service. A family gathering will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of the Buck Funeral Home, Colton. Joe was born in New Hartford, NY December 26, 1962, the son of Eugene Russell & Elizabeth Jane Regan Eickhoff. Following graduation from Colton-Pierrepont Central School, Class of 1981, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a military policeman. After the service, Joe worked as radio DJ "J.J. McKay" in Canton and Ogdensburg. Joe was a huge fan of the band KISS and loved anything to do with magic. He was the first president of the Friends of the Colton Hepburn Library. Joe married Candace Coombs who passed away November 18, 2020 in Weaverville, NC.
Joe is survived by a daughter Chantel of Marion, NC, a son Caleb and Dante Wines, who he raised as his own son, both of Weaverville, NC, a brother, Dennis [Linda] Eickhoff, Colton and a sister, Lisa Cole, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a niece Rachel [Antonio] Orologio, Potsdam, and two nephews Matthew [Kristen]Cole and Jamie Cole, of Slatington, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the Colton Hepburn Library, P.O.
