WEST STOCKHOLM -- Larry J. Smith, 74, of West Stockholm, formerly of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Stacey, where he was surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice. Larry was born August 31, 1949 in Potsdam, a son of the late Charles R. Smith and Verna Mae O'Shaughnessy. Larry graduated from Canton High School and proudly served his county in the United States ARMY from 1970 to 1978 when he received an Honorable Discharge. Larry was self-employed for over 30 years doing plaster and stucco work. He was very proud that his sons and grandson carry on the tradition and have kept MudMonster Stucco Co, running. Larry also worked in retail while living in Louisiana and Florida. Larry was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. HE enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching sports and rooting for his Yankees, Giants and Rangers. Larry is survived by his daughter Stacey (Nathan) Sprague, stepson Robert (Patty) Murray, grandchildren Paula Sherman and Mason Sprague and a great-grandson, Zachary Sherman. Also surviving are brothers, Robert (Nancy) Smith, Benjamin Smith (Michelle Lasher), Steven (Monica Smith) and Ross (Tammy) Wilson and sisters Linda (Terry) Parrow and Sherry (Joe) Jacowitz, a daughter in law, Lisa Murray and grandson, Joshua Murray. In addition to his parents, Charles and Verna, Larry was pre-deceased by a step-son, Charles Murray. There will be no services at this time.
