MADRID – Graveside services for Madelyn F. "Maddy" Aponte, 60, a resident of 9 Depot Street, Madrid, will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Massena, with Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Maddy passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Born in the Bronx, NY on December 29, 1962 to the late Manuel Aponte-Hernandez and Gloria Esther Cruz, Maddy has been a big part of the SUNMOUNT community for many years. She has resided in many of the SUNMOUNT IRA's over the years with her most recent home being at the Depot Street IRA in Madrid, NY. Maddy was a feisty woman who shined with her bright smile covered in her favorite lipsticks. Maddy loved having her make-up on daily and enjoyed putting it on at her vanity, but would also apply it as she wheeled herself around her home. She kept her make-up and her money in her purse which she kept close to her at all times! Maddy also had a love for her baby dolls and liked dressing them up and showing her staff the various dolls she had. Maddy was never afraid to speak her mind and even did so in Spanish. There really isn't enough words to describe this amazing spirit! She left an impression on all who came in contact with her.

Maddy is survived by her family and friends within the SUNMOUNT and NYSARC communities and her loving family at the IRA's she lived in. She also had her advocate for many years, Sue Kenniston.
