PIERREPONT -- Funeral services for Melita V. Caster, 85, a resident of 6533 County Rt. 24, Colton, will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Elder Ken Ashley presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Hannawa Falls following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. Mrs. Caster passed away Friday evening, October 7, 2022 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with family at her side.
Mrs. Caster is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clayton, Pierrepont; her son, Victor and Pamela Caster, Pierrepont; her two daughters, Debra and Alvin Dewey, Norwood and Sheila Sharp, Pierrepont; her beloved six grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Moseley, Nathan and Brittani Caster, Dustin Caster and his fiancé Kalynne Lapan, Hunter Dewey, Garrett Sharp and his fiancé Kady Hart and Dakota Sharp; her three great-grandchildren, Owen and Ben Moseley and Maliah Caster as well as her nieces and nephews and her cherished cat, Marty. Melita was pre-deceased by her parents and two sisters, Katherine Vanderburg and Frances Foster.
Born in Pierrepont, NY on July 13, 1937 to the late Frederick and Helen Wolstenholme Vanderburg, Melita graduated from Colton-Pierrepont Central School with the Class of 1955. She Married Clayton Carlton Caster on September 2, 1955. Melita was a devoted homemaker and also worked at the Potsdam Elementary School in the cafeteria for several years. In her free time, Melita enjoyed cooking, baking and playing cards, but found her most enjoyment came with spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren's sporting events.
