Bruce and I went through the Industrial Arts program at SUNY Oswego at the same time. We were in a number of classes together where we laughed at a number of teacher's attempts to pronounce some of the last names of our classmates. I stopped by the family home to see what the little blue sports car in the garage was (not knowing whose it was) in the winter of 1988. Bruce recognized me almost immediately despite our not our having seen each other since well before our college graduation and the fact that I had given up shaving nearly 20 years earlier. I only saw him on one other occasion very briefly in Potsdam a few years later. Our lives too often keep us from contact we many we'd really enjoy seeing. My clearest memories of Bruce at Oswego were of a a "device he designed for an assignment in technical Drawing (It would not have been accepted, if he had any practical use!) and of turning the crank on his Model A Ford sedan one "chilly" afternoon in front of the dorm while he made some "adjustments." I know what it is to loose someone very close so I send my wishes for a good life despite Bruce's loss. We are made so we must go on despite it being incredibly difficult for some of us. I truly feel blessed to still be among the living. I have long tried to honer those (many far too young) who have passed on through the way I deal with others> From what I read from others above I truly would liked to have seen Bruce more often and known him better. Bonnie and Family
We regret to hear about Bruce. I first met him back in the 70's when he was building an addition on my cousins home in Madrid. I crossed paths with him over the years and remembered when he worked at ALCOA. I worked for the railroad that serviced the plant and every time we met we always had a good laugh at the stories we would tell one another. Bruce was a great guy and a good friend and I will miss him dearly.

Bonnie -
So sorry to hear of Bruce passing. Glad we had some years as neighbors with you and your family in Norwood. My children still remember how kind your family was to them. Glad we still remained in contact with your education endeavors at SUNY Potsdam. I leave you with a favorite quote of mine and that you will be in my prayers -- "Death only ends a life, not a relationship." (from Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom)

Bonnie and family,
JohnnyO and I are very saddened to hear of your recent loss. Bruce will be dearly missed here in DeGrasse. What a love for his camp, old friends and new acquaintances he had while in town.
Not a visit went by that he didn't pull in our driveway for a friendly chat, to borrow a tool or enjoy a glass of red wine. Those are the greatest memories with "THE POLLOCK". JohnnyO will miss his frequent calls made while you were traveling just to see if things were okay here and at his camp.
I will attempt to upload a picture of the day he came down to camp to ask for help getting his tractor going because he had just shot the bear. I told him we didn't need any tractor--- I could load it for him. Up I went in my nursing scrubs on my way to work and threw it in the back of his truck for him. (JohnnyO and Bruce offering a bit of supervision!!) He was AMAZED!!! and ever soooo grateful.
Hugs to you and your family!!! Our sincere condolences to you all.
You know where we are if there is anything we can do to help you with this huge transition. Never hesitate to drop us a message if we can assist.

We are immensely saddened by Bruce's passing. We were certain the tough "Pollack" would pull through. Bruce had many blessings in his life--a beautiful marriage, wonderful daughters and grandchildren that brought him so much joy & pride! Bruce was definitely a jokester( with a very tender heart). We met about 15 years ago at the KOA on South Padre Island, TX. He noticed our NY license plate the day we arrived. As we were settling in, Bruce landed on our RV doorstep announcing that he was from the management and we were making entirely too much noise. Then came the big belly laugh as he introduced himself, and we learned he & Bonnie were from Norwood, NY--we,from Canton. We weep with gratitude for great times together, as we recall RV dinners & happy hours, TX fishing excursions, Valentine's Day & Gilligan Island celebrations and many get-togethers in the North Country. Our hearts go out to our friend Bonnie and the extended Konkoski Family.

One of a kind does not adequately describe Bruce Konkoski. I went to Massena HS and SUNY Oswego at the same time as Bruce. We were fraternity brothers in Beta Tau Epsilon. Bruce and I have been in contact on a regular basis for the last 10-15 years. Bruce always had an opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not and whether you agreed with him or not. You got all of Bruce's opinion every time. It saddens me that Bruce has passed and I know that he would not like living as a vegetable. One can only believe that Bruce is in a better place reconnecting with those who went before him and once again providing opinion and entertainment to all who he finds to talk to. His bigger than life spirit will live on and his presence will be surely missed by all who knew him. Bless his family during this time of grief and healing.
