MASSENA – Memorial services for 92 year old Betty J. Benway, a resident of 90 East Hatfield Street, Massena, will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Jehovah Kingdom Hall, 71 Bayley Road, Massena at 1 p.m. Betty passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at her home. Betty is survived by two sons, Ronald and Elizabeth Casey, Louisville; Gerald and Yvonne Benway, Norfolk; a daughter, Marilyn and Charles LaDue, Norfolk; 10 grandchildren and several grand and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Russell and Rodney Backus. Betty was pre-deceased by a son Gilbert Benway, a daughter Florence LaPoint, a brother Donald Backus and a sister Arloine.
Born in Lyme, NY on July 22, 1926 to the late Charles and Mable Backus, she married William H. Casey in 1946. After William's death, she married Gerald D. Benway in 1955. Betty was a self-employed nurse's aide who enjoyed crocheting, shopping (especially with QVC) and spending time with her family. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to any local Jehovah Kingdom Hall or to the hall in Massena at 71 Bayley Road and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
