Dear family. I am very sorry to have read of the recent death of your loved one, . Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be very comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28,29 and also Revelation 21:3-5. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones, as well as do away with all of the many causes we have for suffering, including sickness, pain & death. Knowing these truths have always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts from the Bible will likewise comfort your family and will also ease some of your pain during this most difficult time in your lives. I have also found very comforting information about what hope there is for our deceased loved ones on jw.org.

Dear All,
I am so very sorry to hear about Leon's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. May the memories you hold dear warm your heart in the days to come . . .
Thanks to Jennifer for sending some of Leon's art after I lost my home in the Sonoma wildfire last year. I had them framed and they're gracing our new place -- a fond remembrance of my childhood visits with Leon and you all. He was so very talented!
Love,
Ann-Marie LeBeau Heidingsfelder (Bill's daughter!)

Penny and family—-I was saddened to learn of Leon’s passing. He was a favorite teacher of mine during my high school year’s at Brushton-Moira and the class of 65 of which I was a part dedicated our yearbook to him. He made teaching fun and he was not only a great teacher but a class act himself. My late wife Grenda and her best friend Janet Dana I recall would often make a point to travel to his Studio L after he changed careers and left Brushton. He was indeed a talented artist. I last saw Leon at one of Janet and Don Dana’s annual Christmas parties with Penny by his side poking fun at him. Leon sent a nice letter which I read at our class of 65’s fiftieth reunion in 2015. He regretfully could not attend due to health reasons but filled us in on his life post Brushton and thanked us for thinking of him. I think it is safe to say that Leon lives on in all the many students he taught in his English classes and his painting and pottery classes. The saying “a teacher touches a life forever” is so apt to describe Leon’s long and well lived life. May he rest in God’s Peace. Dale Chapin BMC Class of 1965

I met Leon through the Potsdam artists groups in the 1990's. Leon really strengthened the arts scene not only by producing art, teaching, but also being involved with local shows and civic events. He was a true gentleman.
Sincerely,
Janice Westerling

Dear Penny and Girls -- You may not remember me, Penny, but then again perhaps you will. Leon will be missed by so many. I remember him as my "grownup" cousin who was always nice and kind to me. His laugh and smile will always be remembered by me, his little cousin by at least 10 years. We didn't see each other on a regular basis except at family gatherings. However, whenever we did encounter each other, he always took the time to ask me what was going on in my life. He was not only handsome (cousin crush, I'm sure) but his gentleness and presence-in-the-moment were inspirational. I shall keep him and all of you in my prayers. He is finally HOME and in the arms of His Savior. Love, Peace, and Prayers...Jane

I will remember Leon for the kind gentleman he was. I have a couple of the celadon mugs that Leon made. They were and are the only mugs which naturally fit my hand. I have had the pleasure to work with Lianne and Gwen at CCSD. Both are amazing women. Leon and Penny were a delight to watch interact. Leon will be missed by many.

We were so sorry to hear of Leon's passing. Although we hadn't seen him in several years we always enjoyed his sense of humor. I appreciated that he didn't make "fun of" the glazing technique on my apple when I took his SOAR art class. Over the years we were lucky to own several of his pottery pieces and watercolor notecards. Hugs to all.
