SOUTH COLTON – Funeral services for 84 year old Robert T. "Bob" Matthie Sr., a resident of 456 A East Hill Road, South Colton, will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Pastor Tom Chappell presiding. Burial will be held in the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in the springtime. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton in Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the services. Mr. Matthie passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at home with family at his side. Bob is survived by his children Terry, Gary, Tim, John, Donna and Linda; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Daisy Wagstaff, Rose Akley and Cherry Hennessy and a half brother, Wayne Bump, Newton Falls as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife Lorena, a son Robert Matthie Jr., two daughters, Barbara and Lorena Ann and his brothers Clarence, Martin, Wesley, Richard and Clayton. Born in South Colton, NY on November 7, 1934 to the late William Frank Matthie and Hazel Martin, Bob later married Lorena Irish. Lorena passed away in 2010. Bob was a self-employed handyman all his life. He enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood and worked for many years for several cemeteries as the caretaker.
