Obituary of Gary O. Gonyea

HERMON – Calling hours for family and friends for 59 year old Gary O. Gonyea, a resident of Hermon, NY will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood at a later date. Mr. Gonyea passed away Wednesday morning, March 6, 2019 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. Gary is survived by his father, Bernard "Bing" Gonyea, Sherman, TX and formerly of Edwards; his two sisters, Laurie and her husband Michael Coulter, Sherman, TX; Kimberly Wallace, Philadelphia, NY; a brother, David Gonyea, Ogdensburg; his beloved nieces and nephews, Alex and his wife Jesse Coulter; Andrew Coulter; Adam Coulter; Nicholas and his wife Gabrielle Forbes; Kara and her husband Adam Whitford Sr.; Krystal and her husband Mike Anson and Tyler and his wife Kate Forbes. Gary is also survived by his great nieces and nephews Turner, Walton and Whitney Coulter; Logan and Abel Forbes; Hazel and Adam, Jr. Whitford; Myra, Willa and Kolt Anson and Avery and Ethan Forbes. Gary was pre-deceased by his mother Margaret Gonyea and a brother Georgie Gonyea. Born in Potsdam, NY on June 6, 1959 to Bernard "Bing" and Margaret Blackmer Gonyea, Gary graduated from Hermon-DeKalb Central School, Class of 1978 and worked for St. Lawrence University in Canton as a custodian for nearly 40 years, planning to retire this coming year. In his free time, Gary enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling and four-wheeling and spending time outdoors canoeing, kayaking and photography. He also volunteered with the literacy club as well. Gary also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
