POTSDAM – Funeral services with military honors for 59 year old Scott A. Dafoe, a resident of 365 Heath Road, Potsdam and formerly of Norwood, will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Philip's Church in Norwood with Mother Kathryn Boswell presiding. Scott passed away Tuesday, January 08, 2019 at home with his family at his side. Scott is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda, Potsdam; his three sons, Scott and Charity Dafoe II, Brasher Falls; Eric Dafoe, Norwood and Ryan Dafoe, Potsdam; his two beloved grandchildren, Aurora and Wesley Dafoe; his mother, Myrtle Butterfield, Canton; two brothers, Myron "Mike" and Linda L. Dafoe, Canton; Chad Dafoe, North Dakota and his sister, Amy and John Oney, Dekalb as well as several nieces and nephews. Scott was pre-deceased by his father and two infant brothers.
Born in Canton, NY on November 18, 1959 to Myron and Myrtle Wilson Dafoe, Scott graduated from high school and attended college. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in February of 1978 and served his country, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in October of 1995. Upon his return home, Scott was employed for Atco in Ogdensburg, Corning in Canton and most recently, Kraft in North Lawrence. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish and go camping as well as work in his gardens. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Canton.
