COLTON—A Mass of Christian Burial for 83 year old George H. Seaver, a lifelong resident of Colton, and former resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. Stephen Rocker presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colton. George passed away early Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Crown Park Nursing Home in Cortland after a brief stay. George is survived by a sister, Eileen O'Grady, Syracuse; a nephew, Michael and four nieces, Maureen, Colleen, Bridget and Mary-Pat. He was pre-deceased by his parents, a brother Joseph and a sister, Mary Leonard.
Born in South Colton, NY on April 21, 1935 to the late Clyde and Beatrice Leary Seaver, George graduated from Colton-Pierrepont High School in 1953. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return home from service, he worked for Reynolds Metals for many years in Massena. George was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying almost anything you could do outside. He enjoyed spending time at his camp as well as going to Weller Mountain Fish and Game Club or Birch Brook Hunting Club, where he was a member of both as he enjoyed fishing for trout or hunting whitetail deer. He was a member of the Colton Fire Department, being a former Chief at one time.
