NORFOLK—A Mass of Christian Burial for 92 year old Goldie V. "Cookie" Zappia, a resident of 3 High Street, Apt. 12, Norfolk, will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Friday from 3-7 p.m. Cookie passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
Cookie is survived by her son, Dominic Zappia Jr., Omaha, NE; her daughter, Rickie Zappia, Norfolk; her four grandchildren, Lisa and Bob Stewart, Michelle and Scott Simons, Lacy and Michael Sullivan, Matthew Zappia; her seven beloved great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kimberly and Madison Stewart; Morgan and Erin Simons; Grace and Andrew Sullivan; a sister, Ethel Darabon, Norfolk as well as several nieces and nephews. Cookie was pre-deceased by her husband Dominic, a grand-daughter, Kimberly Raymonda; two brothers, Alton "Peter" Darabon, Stephen Darabon, Irene Southworth, Mary "Dolly" Harris and Loretta Radel.
Born in Norfolk on August 15, 1926 to the late Stephen and Bernadine Robinson Darabon, Goldie married Dominic W. Zappia on May 3, 1947. She worked for both the Norfolk Post Office and Norfolk Paper Mill for several years. Cookie was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society in Norfolk, the Fort Nightly Club in Norfolk and enjoyed going to bingo, eating out and spending time with her family and friends.
