NORWOOD-- Funeral Services for 83 year old Theresa M. Gravlin, a resident of 11 Elm Street, Norwood, will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Norwood, following the funeral services and a celebration of her life will follow at the American Legion, Post 68 in Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Theresa passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 with her family at her side under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Theresa was born on May 23, 1935 in Lawrence, NY, a daughter to the late John and Pearl Cummings Hourihan. She attended St. Joseph's Academy in Brasher Falls and continued her high school education at Norwood High School. Following graduation, Theresa married Harold Gravlin on July 7, 1956. She worked odd jobs until becoming a telephone operator in Potsdam and she later completed her career in Food Service Management, working at Potsdam State for many years. Theresa is survived by three sons, Marvin Roden, Texas; Timothy Gravlin, Norwood; David and Natalie Gravlin, Norwood; her two daughters, Barbara and David Gallagher, Parishville; Sheila Jordan and Richard Stone, Potsdam; a brother, James and Mary Hourihan, Potsdam; a sister, Catherine and Paul Compeau, Brasher Falls as well as her beloved eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews and her cat, Parker. Theresa was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Harold in 1999, her brothers Maurice and Ralph Hourihan, her infant brothers Jerry and Michael Hourihan, a sister Mary Elizabeth Compeau and a grand-daughter, Myah Gravlin. Theresa loved playing cards and bingo with her family and friends, scratching lottery tickets and working with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 68 and watching her kids and grandchildren play sports. She served on the Norwood Youth Commission for several years and truly loved to cook and enjoyed sitting down for Sunday night dinners with her family and friends at her home. Memorial Donations in Theresa's memory can be made to the Norwood American Legion Auxiliary Unit 68, Norwood, the Potsdam Humane Society or to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
