MONETA, VIRGINIA -- Corinne Fannie Perry Matthies, 70, of Moneta, VA. died Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born in Potsdam, NY on December 16, 1947, a daughter of the late Dexter Russell Perry and Veola Consuela Drew Perry. Corinne was a retired Administrative Assistant for the Housing Authority of the County of San Joaquin in Stockton, CA. She was an avid sharp eyed bargain shopper, and she enjoyed painting, drawing and making jewelry. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Moneta Lions Club, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority (ESA). She held the titles of Chapter President and Council President, and was voted 2005 Woman of the Year for California for her Chairmanship of the Dream Home Project in Turlock, CA raising over 1 million dollars for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Barton Matthies; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Matthies-Wilmarth and a brother, Russell Drew Perry. A burial will be held at Hale Cemetery, in Norfolk, NY. A small graveside service will be held on Friday the 26th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
