Obituary of Richard D. Chase

PIERREPONT - In following with Richard's wishes there will be no services at this time for 82 year old Richard D. Chase Sr., a resident of 6489 County Rt. 24, Colton. Mr. Chase passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at his home unexpectedly. Richard is survived by his wife, Pauline as they were always seen together and did everything together; his 7 children, Leona (Nonie) and Jim Woodcock, Fish Creek Landing, Richard Chase Jr. and Merrie Pinti, Blossvale, Daniel Chase and Gerri Cordell, Canastota, Matt Chase, Verona, Donald and Marilyn Chase, Camden, Dawn Pedersen, Sherrill, and Beth Hluska, Colorado, a sister, Deborah Herringshaw and brother Edward Chase of Oneida,10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard is also survived by his step-children, Michael and Ann Jerome, Parishville, Hope and Isaac Gilbert, Hannawa, Timothy and Tammy Jerome, Potsdam, Shannon and Michael Buckner, Brasher along with 12 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren. Richard was pre-deceased by his father, Donald Chase; his mother Lola Trudell Chase; two sisters, Leona (Nonie) Chase and Patricia Sevey, a brother, Ronald Chase and a step-grandchild in November of 2017. Born in South Colton on March 2, 1936 to the late Donald and Lola Chase, Richard operated an auto repair business in State Bridge, NY for several years. After retiring, he worked for Massey's produce in Utica for a few years. He married Pauline M. Woodard Jerome on August 14, 2002. Richard enjoyed working outside on the lawn, tinkering around his garage, cutting wood and family gatherings.
