Marilyn Joan (Morgan) Woodward, 81, of Norwood passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Born on October 11, 1936 in Potsdam, "Joan" was raised in Norwood and graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Schools in 1954. She received her Master's Degree in Library Science from SUNY Albany and was employed by the Massena Public Library for many years. Joan leaves behind her children, Kent and Karen (Visconti) Morgan of Gorton, NY; Dean Woodward and Jimmy Janowski of Canton and Buffalo; Ross Woodward and Sandra Asregadoo of Eagle-Vail, CO; Jackie Woodward-Peters of Churchville, NY; Robynn Woodward of Basalt, CO; her beloved granddaughter, Rena DeShane; endearing grandchildren Benjamin (Brandy), Corinne (Tim), Colin, Ryan; and three cherished great-grandchildren. Joan is also survived by her brothers, Charles (Karen) Morgan, Fred (Lixen) Morgan and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her loving daughter Christine Elizabeth; her parents, Fred and Rena (Brown) Morgan, and her brother Jack (Arloen) Morgan. Her family fondly remembers the many pleasures she enjoyed, her love of nature, outdoors, gardening, biology, geology, books (more than forty gifted this Christmas past), photography, England, Cymru, long walks, hiking North Country trails and especially her devotion to the "little ones" in her life. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Canton-Potsdam Hospital for the exceptional care she received in her final days and throughout the years. To her Maplewood Campus family, a debt of gratitude for the comfort they so well provided while she lived there. Private final arrangements to be held at the discretion of the family.
