RAYMONDVILLE – Funeral Services for 81 year old George R. "Bob" Burns, a resident of 1 Fairlawn Ave, Raymondville, will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Raymondville Methodist Church with Rev. Martha Helmer presiding. Burial will be held in the Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Mr. Burns passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center with his family at his side.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma, Raymondville; a son, Thomas and Sheila Burns, Norwood; two daughters, Carl and Susan Burns-Normandin, Potsdam and Ted and Patti Burns-Skomsky, Rochester and his five beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Skomsky, Matthew Normandin, Patrick Normandin, Ellie Burns and Lucie Burns. Bob was born in Potsdam, NY on May 3, 1937 to the late Arthur J. and Agatha W. Gooshaw Burns. After graduating from High School, he completed course work at Clarkson University. He married Norma C. Kingsley on May 18, 1957. Bob worked for Reynolds Metals in Massena, NY for 34 years. After working in several positions, he ended his career as the plant warehouse purchaser/ buyer. Bob served with the U.S. Army Reserves for several years in the late 1950's and early 1960's as well. Bob loved the outdoors, taking many hunting and fishing trips as he belonged to the Cranberry Lake Club and also was an honorary member of the Weller Mountain Fish and Game Club. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family on trips.
