SOUTH COLTON – Services for 71 year old Robert T. "Bob" Irish, a resident of 219 East Hill Road, South Colton, will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton. Graveside prayers will be held in the springtime in the South Colton Cemetery. Mr. Irish passed away Friday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy, South Colton; two sons, Robert M. and Tiffany Irish, South Colton; Steven and Sarah Irish, Elbridge, NY; his six brothers, Frank and Carol Fisher, South Colton; George and Frieda Fisher, Colton; David and Wannetta Matthie, Frank and Lena Matthie, Roger and Mary Matthie, all of South Colton and Tom and Bridget Matthie, Colton; his four sisters, Dorothy Fisher, Potsdam; Betty Powell, Wyoming; Sandy Matthie and Sally Matthie-Patraw, both of Colton as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Floyd Fisher.
Born in Potsdam, NY on April 14, 1946 to the late Paul Fisher and Jean Matthie, Bob attended Colton-Pierrepont School and then served in the U.S. Army. He married Peggy A. Potter on November 3, 1973. Bob worked for the Town of Colton Highway Department for 28 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors very much and the time he spent with his hunting and fishing partners, Hughie Horton and Ron Austin. Also, Bob enjoyed boating and being active with the Sunday Rock ATV Club, the St. Lawrence County ATV Association and spending time with the diner crew. He truly enjoyed his retirement.
