NORWOOD—A Mass of Christian Burial for 74 year old William L. Reed, a resident of 3512 County Rt. 47, Norwood, will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in Hale Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Mr. Reed passed away early Tuesday morning at the Highland Home in Massena after a brief stay.
Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Charlene, Norwood; his three daughters, Lynn and Phil Jenner, Dexter, NY; Kimberly and Michael LePage, Norwood and April and Brian Grant, Potsdam; his seven beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan, Danielle, Hailey, David, Brianna and Cooper; a brother Gerald Reed and his companion Janet Binan, Parishville and a sister, Helen Butchino, Canton as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, two brothers, Guy Reed Jr. and Lloyd Reed and three sisters, Altha Sawyer, Marion Newtown and Sally Reed.
Born in Potsdam, NY on July 19, 1943 to the late Guy and Mayfred Randall Reed Sr., Bill graduated from High School and married Charlene M. Aumell on January 11, 1969. He worked at Clarkson University in Potsdam as Boiler and Stationary Engineer, retiring in 2002 after 37 years of service. Bill was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church in Norwood and enjoyed hunting and woodworking and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
