My first meeting with Mary was when I went to look at her sister Ella Mae's house as it was for sale. I got out of my car and heard this womans voice yelling "You get outta here" and I was thinking maybe I shouldn't be here? I turned around and Mary was chasing chickens that were attacking her plants in the yard. WHEW! It wasn't me she was upset with. She introduced herself and that was the start of a wonderful friendship. I bought that house next door and subsequently would visit Ella Mae in the Nursing home in Massena. Mary was always there visiting her at the same time and the three of us had great visits and lots of laughs. Just a month ago I went to visit Mary and despite her health issues this winter, she invited me to spend the night. I had a dog to get home to but it was so sweet of her to offer. That was Mary, kind, loving... a dear friend and neighbor. She always ended our phone conversations with an I Love You and I did the same.
