NORFOLK—Graveside services for 80 year old Maureen A. Gonyea, a resident of 29 South Main Street, Norfolk, will be held in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood. Maureen passed away late Thursday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Maureen is survived by three sons, Stephen Gonyea, Norfolk; Bruce Gonyea, California; Craig Gonyea, Norfolk; a daughter, Colleen LaPoint (Larry Willer), Norwood; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Maureen is also survived by two sisters, Irene French, Syracuse and Linda Brooks, Indiana as well as several nieces and nephews. Maureen was pre-deceased by her husband Francis in 2000, two daughters, Pamela Martin and Amanda Gonyea, her three brothers Amos, Gerald and Ronald Dufore and two sisters, Pearl Peacock and Betty Cheeseman.
Born in Norwood, NY on May 25, 1936 to the late Joseph and Iva Christie Dufore, she married Francis C. Gonyea on November 24, 1954. Maureen worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Norwood for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and ceramics, and previously enjoyed bowling and going to bingo.
