Obituary of Monique Colbert

NORFOLK—Funeral Services for 71 year old Monique Colbert, a resident of 18 Maple Street, Norfolk, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Knapps Station Community Church with Pastor Lee Sweeney presiding. Burial will follow the services at the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and again on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mrs. Colbert passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Millard Fillmore Hospital in Williamsville, NY. Monique is survived by her husband of 52 years, David; a daughter, Gloria Colbert and her husband, Jack LaShomb, Amherst, NY; two sons, Frank and Julia Colbert, Norwood and Robert and Lisa Colbert, Norwood; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Colbert, Tupper Lake; her four beloved grandchildren, Douglas, William, Julianna and Jacob as well as several nieces and nephews. Monique was pre-deceased by her parents, a son Bradley in 2016, her two brothers, Eyves and Allen Kessler and a sister, Yevette LeValley. Born in Metz, France on August 28, 1945 to the late Nicholas and Augustin Biorioux, Monique graduated from high school and attended college in France, earning a degree as a Steno-dactylographer. She later moved to the United States and worked at the Norwood-Norfolk Central School and eventually took a position with the SeaComm Federal Credit Union. Monique was a communicant of the Dailey Ridge Scotch Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was the Grand Chaplin.
