NORWOOD – Graveside services for 73 year old Frances J. Margittay, a resident of 3511 County Route 47, Norwood, will be held in Hale Cemetery in Norfolk on Friday, October 7,2016 at 2 p.m. A celebration of her life will follow the services at 3 p.m. at the Norwood American Legion. Mrs. Margittay passed away on September 26, 2016 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Frances is survived by her husband, John P. Margittay Sr., Norwood; three sons, Brian Bernard, Weedsport; Christopher Bernard, Norwood; John and Ann Margittay Jr., Norwood; her three daughters, Barbara Bernard, FL; Emily and Kevin Enslow, Norwood; Betsy Darabon and Robert Myers, Norwood; numerous grand and great-grandchildren as well as her nine siblings, Nelson, Tommy, Lola, Georgia, Loretta, Carolyn, Jean and Gail.
Born in Potsdam, NY on September 5, 1943 to the late Francis and Justina LaBarge Hooper, Frances married John P. Margittay on January 14, 1971. She was a homemaker and also worked at the NNCS as a cook, retiring in 2004 after almost 20 years of service. Frances enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with her family and taking an occasional trip to the casino.
