Obituary of Lawrence E. "Larry" Chase

COLTON - Graveside services for 82 year old Lawrence E. "Larry" Chase, a resident of Gulf Road, Colton will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Coulon Cemetery at Joe Indian with Rev. Stephen Rocker presiding. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Chase passed away Friday afternoon at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Larry is survived by his six children, Kathleen and Randy Cook, Clare; Bonnie and Scott Keller, Florida; Richard and his companion Tina Nesbit, North Carolina; Rodney and Barbara Chase, Heuvelton; Liza and Robert Baxter, Massena and Timothy and his companion Ramona Penland, North Carolina. Larry is also survived by several grand and great-grandchildren, two brothers, Marlo Chase, Hermon and Marcell Chase, East Cazenovia as well as several nieces and nephews. Larry was pre-deceased by his wife, a son, Darren, a brother Sanford Chase and two sisters, Pauline Holman and Blanche Watson. Born in Pierrepont, NY on September 18, 1934 a son to the late Charles B. and Alice Irish Chase, Larry married Mildred Hammond on February 21, 1958. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 and served for a year. In a letter wrote home, Larry said "I would not take anything in the world for what I have learned in here but when I get out of here they will have a hell of a time getting me back". Larry was later recalled back in 1961 to serve again in the U.S. Army. Larry enjoyed his career, as he worked for the Local 278 Carpenters and Joiners Union for many years. Larry enjoyed playing shuffleboard, fishing, taking trips to Vermont to visit family and Sunday dinners. Memorial Donations in Larry's memory can be made to Northern Lights Home Health Care.
