HANNAWA FALLS—A Mass of Christian Burial for 73 year old Steven W. Collins, a resident of 56D T. Alexander Drive, Colton, will be held Wednesday September 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. Stephen Rocker presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Mr. Collins passed away at his home Saturday evening surrounded by his family.
Steve is survived by his wife of 52 years, Suellan, Hannawa Falls; a son, Edward and Deborah Collins, Lake Luzerne; his daughter, Lisa and Kenneth Clemons, West Potsdam; his five beloved grandchildren, Terri Lynn and Harold "Joe" Bullock, Rebecca Collins, Leslie Clemons, Katelyn Clemons, Lucas Clemons; one great grandson, Harold Jackson Bullock; a brother Glen Collins, Potsdam. Nephew Robert and Michele Collins, niece Jennifer Collins and several other nieces and nephews also survive Steve. Steve was pre-deceased by a brother, Mark Collins.
Born in Potsdam, NY on May 5, 1943 to the late Wallace and Grayce Sullivan Collins, Steve graduated from High School and attended trade school. He married Suellan Tolman on July 4, 1964. He worked for the Niagara Mohawk Power Company for 30 years, retiring in 1997 as the Chief Line Mechanic. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Colton as well as a member of the American Legion in Potsdam. Steve is an Honorary Member of the Hannawa Falls Fire Department, where he served for many years. His true enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve lived one day at a time and was always willing to help others. He believed in and was active in the 12 step program and was faithful to the Serenity Prayer. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, from 1963-1967.
