Obituary of Michael S. Sassone

NORFOLK—Funeral services for 70 year old Michael S. Sassone, a resident of 20 West Main Street, Norfolk, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Bud Leach presiding. Calling hours will be held at the Church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk. Mr. Sassone passed away on Thursday August 25, 2016 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Michael is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ivette Sassone, Norfolk; two sons, Asa Sassone, Avenel, NJ and Michael and Lisa Sassone, NJ; five daughters, Theresa Comar, NJ; Lisa and Chris Vecchione, NJ; Michele and Eric Salsburg, NJ; Ember Sassone, Potsdam, NY and Selah Sassone, Avenel, NJ. Michael is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased in death by a daughter, Gabrielle Sassone and his brother Arthur. Born in Newark, NJ on June 26, 1946 to the late Gerard and Rose Muscarella Sassone, he married Ivette Navarro on June 24, 1995. He worked for the City of Newark as an Assistant Chief in the Police Department, specifically the Records and Identification Bureau and also served as the Police Chaplin. Michael loved to fish and was a strong Christian man, considering himself a servant of the Lord. Memorial Donations in his memory can be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Potsdam.
