Obituary of Joyce M. Russell

MASSENA— A Mass of Christian Burial for 73 year old Joyce M. Russell, a resident of 386 North Racquette River Road, Massena and formerly of Parishville, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. Howard Venette presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Colton following the service. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Mrs. Russell passed away Tuesday at her home. Joyce is survived by her husband of 54 years David, Massena; her two sons, Paul, Massena; Christopher and Lisa, Massena; a daughter, Janet and David Bartlett Jr., Parishville; her grandchildren, Amanda and Jeffery Crump, Corey and Gretchen Bartlett, Nicole, Makali and Jonathan Russell; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Crump and Landon and Lydia Bartlett; a brother, Richard and Susan Butterfield, Parishville; her two sisters, Marie MacDonald, Ogdensburg and Linda Hayes, Norwood as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce was pre-deceased by her brothers, Everett and Charles Butterfield and her sisters, Shirley Nelson, Dorothy Randall and Betty Wright. Born in Pierrepont, NY on August 1, 1942 to the late Lawrence and Margaret Gary Butterfield, Joyce married David J. Russell on June 10, 1961. She worked for PACES food service at Potsdam State as a prep cook for 37 years retiring in 2015. Joyce was of the Catholic Faith and was a past member of St. Michael's Church in Parishville and a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Massena. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
