NORFOLKA Mass of Christian Burial for 77 year old Avis L. Haggett, a resident of 3 East View Heights, will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery in the spring. A luncheon will be held following the services at the Norfolk American Legion. Calling hours will be held privately for the family. Mrs. Haggett passed away Saturday evening at her home surrounded by her family.
Avis is survived by her son, Fred and Sue Haggett, Liverpool; her daughter, Karen Haggett, Norfolk; her five grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Zachary, Caleb and Nate Haggett; her sister, Nina Molnar, Norfolk and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Lawrence, Avis was pre-deceased by a son, Daniel Joseph and a daughter, Peggy Lynn.
Born in Ogdensburg, NY on September 11, 1938 to the late Frederick M. and Ruth McGlaughlin Lavigne, Avis graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Buddy Haggett on August 2, 1958. She was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and worked for many years at the First National Bank of Norfolk, retiring as the Bank Manager. She was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends, especially at her camp in Hannawa Falls.
