NORWOODOn Saturday, January 16, 2016, this world lost one beautiful soul, Cory R. Sharlow passed away unexpectedly at his home in Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at the Norfolk American Legion immediately following the services.
Born in Potsdam on November 11, 1989, Cory is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Sharlow (McCarthy), Norwood; his father, Richard Sharlow and his wife Patricia, Raymondville; his brother and best friend, Lance R. Saumier, Norwood; a son, Camryn Scot Oakes, Canandaigua; his beautiful girlfriend, Julianne Jacobs and her two children, Andi Paul and Lennix Paul, Hogansburg, his maternal grandfather, John (Jack) McCarthy, Winthrop. Cory is also survived by many friends, cousins, aunts and uncles who loved him so very much. Peter Sharlow of Plattsburg was a particularly close cousin and friend of Corys. They enjoyed a lot of good times and music together. Cory was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents Daniel (Juddy) and Bernice Sharlow and his maternal grandmother, Cheryl Brin (Beaulieu).
Cory was a 2008 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School and a two time graduate of SUNY Canton, graduating with honors both times, in May of 2011 and May of 2014. Cory had degrees in Heating, Plumbing, Electrical Construction and Maintenance and Electrical Engineering. Cory was presently employed with North Country Dairy in North Lawrence and previously worked with Watson Electric, Lencore Acoustics and Ricos Pizza. Friends and family were most important to Cory. He was a great lover of music. He loved playing his guitar, singing and writing his own songs. He had a smile that lit up a room and a heart that truly loved. He was a good friend to many, many people. He was an especially great uncle to his niece, Laurana Cori and he would have loved more than anything to have had more time with his son, Camryn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Corys memory can be made to the Norwood-Norfolk Central School Music Department in his memory.
