NORWOODA Funeral Mass for 87 year old Rita C. Hurley, a resident of 65 South Main Street, Norwood, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Church in Norwood with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Patricks Cemetery, Brasher Falls. There will be no public calling hours. Mrs. Hurley passed away Tuesday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Rita is survived by two brothers, Richard Hurley, Norwood and Robert and Linda Hurley, Adams Center as well as several nieces and nephews. Rita was pre-deceased by her brothers Donald, Gerald, Timothy Ted and Harold Hurley and her sister, Mary Tebo.
Born in Potsdam, NY on July 24, 1928 to the late Timothy J. and Mary F. Hourihan Hurley, Rita obtained a Masters Degree in Education and was dedicated to her profession. She taught at schools in New Jersey and on Long Island and also moved to Germany to teach Military Soldiers. She was a communicant of St. Andrews Church in Norwood and also a member of the Norwood Senior Citizens. She loved playing cards everyday with her friends and was a very generous, well liked and loved person. Rita also enjoyed collecting antiques in her earlier years.
