NORWOODFuneral services for 88 year old Joan S. Ladouceur, a resident of the United Helpers Assisted Living in Canton and formerly of Baldwin Acres and 15 Spring Street, Norwood, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Philips Episcopal Church in Norwood with Rev. Kathryn Boswell presiding. Burial will be held in Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 3-6 p.m. Mrs. Ladouceur passed away early Saturday morning at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with her family at her side.
Joan is survived by her three children, Mickey McKenna (Larry), Norwood; Marcia Murray (John), Norwood and Marc Ladouceur (Vicky), Watertown; her five grandchildren, Jeffrey and Lori McKenna, Lansing, NY; Joseph and Bridget McKenna, Corning, NY; Matthew and Karen Murray, Norwood; Jacob Ladouceur, Norfolk and Michelle and Charles Wright, South Colton. Joan is also survived by four great granddaughters and three great grandsons. Along with her husband Edgar, she was pre-deceased by a brother John Stevens and her sister Ann Fuller.
Born in Ogdensburg, NY on September 5, 1927, the daughter of John B. and Leila R. Wing Stevens, she lived all of her younger life in Ogdensburg. Joan graduated from OFA in June of 1945. She married Edgar F. Ladouceur, a Marine, returning from WWII, on March 3, 1946 at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Ogdensburg. It was a marriage that lasted 57 years. Joan volunteered for many years with the Girl Scouts and the Potsdam Republican Committee. She was also elected to the Norwood Village Board for two years in 1983 as a trustee. Joan was active with the Norwood Library Association and was a communicant of St. Philips Episcopal Church, Norwood, where she served on its vestry. She was active with the womens guild as well as the altar guild. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joans memory can be made to St. Philips Church, 42 South Main Street, Norwood, NY.
