Please share a memory of Russell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
POTSDAM—There will be no calling hours or funeral services for 55 year old Russell J. “Rusty” Trimm, a resident of 266 Waite Road, Potsdam, who passed away late Friday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Rusty is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carol, Potsdam; his mother, Caroline and Lee Charity, Norwood; a step-daughter, Heather and Chuck Smith, Kentucky and their children, Hunter and Jacob Smith. Rusty is also survived by his three brothers, Roy and Linda Trimm Jr., Norwood; Randy Trimm, Potsdam; Rick and Sandy Trimm, Norfolk as well as a sister, Robin and Brent Remington, Parishville. He was pre-deceased by his father, Roy Trimm Sr. in December of 1980. Born in Potsdam, NY, a son of Roy E. and Caroline J. McClure Trimm Sr., Rusty graduated from NNCS. He was the owner and operator of CRT Pet Crematory in Potsdam and previously worked for J. E. Sheehan Corp. as an equipment operator as well as working at Paul’s Garage in Norwood. Rusty had a passion for life and a lions heart. He understood what it meant not to sweat the small stuff and had a firm conviction of right and wrong and stood up for that. He enjoyed being a backyard mechanic, builder and handyman. He built and started the CRT Pet Crematory and ran it until his health failed. He could fix anything at home that the family could break. Rusty was a great neighbor and was always willing to help anyone in need. Most of all, Rusty was a person who made this world and life a lot nicer by just being in it. He will always be missed not because of what he could do, but because of the type of person he was. He may be gone from this world but will never leave the hearts of those who he touched. We are all grateful for the time that God allowed us to spend with Rusty. Memorial Donations in Rusty’s memory can be made to the Norwood Vol. Fire Department.
