NORWOODGraveside services with Military Honors for 66 year old LeRoy J. Simmons, 108 Murphy Road, Norwood, will be held Saturday September 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Hale Cemetery in Norfolk with Pastor Lee Sweeney, pastor of the Knapps Station Community Church, presiding. There will be no calling hours. Mr. Simmons passed away unexpectedly at his home.
LeRoy is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Becky and Richard Hackett, St. Johnsbury, VT; his two sons, Joseph and Raven Snickles, Ogdensburg and Emmett and Bekki Snickles, Addison, NY; his five grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott Rainville, Rebecca and Ben Christie, Cynthia Snickles, LeAnn Snickles, Joseph Snickles Jr.; his five great-grandchildren, Bryanna McKinstry, Richard McKinstry, Izaiah Christie, Adrin Rainville and Ariana Snickles. LeRoy is also survived by his two brothers, Wilbur Simmons, Oswegatchie and David Simmons, Black Lake as well as several nieces and nephews. LeRoy was pre-deceased by his wife, Ellen Marie on June 2, 2012.
Born in Massena, NY on September 2, 1948 to the late Leroy and Margaret LaDue Simmons, he graduated from high school and entered the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1969 1972. Upon his return from service, he married Ellen Marie Martin on July 3, 1976. He worked as a warehouse worker for Ft. Drum in Watertown for over 25 years, retiring just last year. He was a communicant of the Knapps Station Community Church and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, building his rock walls and gardens, visiting with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, reading, computers and he loved his M&Ms. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
