Obituary of Betty J. Bartlett

Memorial service for Betty J. Bartlett, 78, of Norwood will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2015 at 3 PM at the Norwood Free Methodist Church, Dry Bridge Road, Norwood, with Pastor AJ Daniel’s officiating. Friends and family are welcome to visit at the church from 1 PM until the time of the service. Betty died on Saturday, August 22, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she was surrounded by family. Betty was born, June 15, 1937 in Gouverneur, the daughter of the late Clifford and Lillian (Baker) Jay. She was a waitress at the Sunset Lodge in Norwood For many years. She was previously married to Bob Gonyea. On June 27, 1975 she married John Bartlett. Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, the sun, the beach, traveling, wintering in Florida, picnicing on her beach with lots of family and trying different recipes and spending time with her special dog Codi. Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years, John of Norwood; by daughters, Karen Gonyea of Cape Cod, MA; Sandy (Bob) Scanlon of Indian Lake; and Jackie Erickson and Ed Fink of Endicott; by a sister-in-law Shirley Jay; by grandchildren, Jesse Seymour, Andy and Jodie Seymour, Sarah (Jason) Barney, Elizabeth (Mark) Phillips, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
