NORFOLKGraveside services for 90 year old Walter L. Moody, 11 Adams Road, Norfolk, will tentatively be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Bixby Cemetery in Norfolk with Pastor Gregg Stierhiem presiding. There will be no calling hours. Mr. Moody passed away Thursday at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with his family at his side. Walter is survived by his wife of 68 years, Georgina; his two daughters, Connie and Mike Spencer, Norfolk; Robin and Chris Baxter, Norfolk; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a son, Frank Moody, his brothers Vernon Moody and Walter Wallace Moody and his sisters Frieda, Frances, Irene and Irma.
Born in Norfolk on June 28, 1924 to the late Willard and Bertha Thompson Moody, he married Georgina DeShane on February 15, 1947 at the Norfolk Methodist Church. He worked as a laborer for 42 ½ years at ALCOA in Massena, retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. Walter was a member of the American Legion in Norwood and enjoyed time spent in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved to go for rides and spend time with his grandchildren.
